St John Fisher School Prayer

Lord, help us to do what is right, to put our hearts and minds into everything, and to be an example to others.

Help us not to criticize others for things we cannot do ourselves, to understand and forgive others, especially when they hurt us, even though it may be hard.

May we be thankful for what we have and remember those who have little.

Help us to always try hard in our work and follow the example of St John Fisher.

Amen

Prayer & Liturgy Policy

At St John Fisher, we are a Catholic community that values each individual. Christ is at the heart of our school, and we are dedicated to fostering the spiritual growth of our pupils while encouraging high moral standards and respectful behaviour. We recognize that each pupil is on a unique faith journey, and we meet them where they are, encouraging them to explore questions of purpose and faith. Each student, created in the image of God, brings their own gifts and qualities to our community.

Daily Prayer and Form Liturgy

Prayer and Liturgy are central to life at St John Fisher.

Form Prayer & Assemblies
Daily prayers are conducted in each form class, led by form tutors and students. Weekly themes guide these prayers, with additional resources provided to create a meaningful and varied prayer experience.

Form Liturgy Projects
Each half-term, we engage in hands-on Form Liturgy projects, including:

  • Making Rosaries

  • Growing Sunflowers

  • Creating Form Poppies for Remembrance, displayed in local parishes

  • Decorating Christmas Baubles

Form Saints

Our form groups J F I S H E R are each named after a saint, honouring their virtues and seeking their guidance:

Pupil Prayer -
Breakfast with God

Each week, students gather before school for "Breakfast with God." A small, dedicated group of pupils lead prayers and reflections on a rotational basis, deepening their connection to faith and each other.

Staff Prayer -
Prayer & Pastries

Staff members join for “Prayer and Pastries” on Friday mornings in the Chapel, starting their day with a moment of quiet reflection and community. All staff meetings also open with a prayer, fostering unity and shared purpose.

Mass & Worship

We are fortunate to celebrate Mass together regularly:

  • Monthly Mass – Held in the Chapel on the first Wednesday of each month, attended by students and staff.

  • Whole-School Masses – Celebrated during Advent, Lent, and on St John Fisher’s Feast Day, strengthening our communal faith.

Additional voluntary masses are supported by local clergy, and our connections with nearby parishes enrich our ‘home-school-parish’ bond:

  • The Parish of St Edward the Confessor

  • The Parish of St Jude and St Aidan

  • St John's RC Church

  • Our Lady of the Annunciation and Saint Bernadette

  • St Mary's Church

  • Holy Family Platt Bridge

  • St Patrick's Catholic Church

Through our rich tradition of prayer and liturgy, St John Fisher Catholic High School aims to nurture a faithful, respectful, and supportive community that lives out the example of Christ.
