Online Safety
We recognize the importance of equipping our students with the tools they need to navigate the digital world safely and responsibly. In an age where technology is a part of everyday life, we are committed to providing a comprehensive approach to online safety that involves students, staff, and parents. Through dedicated lessons, events, and resources, we aim to empower students to make informed decisions about their online behavior, while providing parents with the knowledge to support these efforts at home. Our school’s online safety program is designed not just to educate, but also to foster a culture of responsible internet use within the community. We believe in a partnership approach where teachers, parents, and students work together to address online risks and opportunities. By combining up-to-date curriculum content, staff training, and parental engagement, we strive to ensure that all members of our school community can enjoy the benefits of technology while minimizing potential risks.

Working Together to Keep Our Children Safe Online
We value the important role parents play in keeping children safe online. The actions taken at home to minimize risks are crucial in helping children behave responsibly online at school as well. By teaching children to manage online risks with their parents' support, they are more likely to reinforce these practices among their peers.
St John Fisher is committed to working in partnership with parents and relevant agencies to teach our children how to use the internet safely and responsibly.
If you have concerns about your child’s use of technology, please reach out to one of our safeguarding leads. If you come across anything online that concerns you, remember you can report it to CEOP. For further support, Parent Info, a collaboration between Parent Zone and NCA-CEOP, provides valuable guidance for parents on keeping children safe online.
eSafety in the Computer Science Curriculum
In our Computer Science department, students are taught a variety of eSafety topics, including:
National Online Safety
St John Fisher is now a National Online Safety accredited school, whose mission is to make the internet a safer place for children. They achieve this through equipping school staff, parents and children with the knowledge they need to understand online dangers and how best to react should an incident arise. Their CPD accredited training courses are all delivered through e-learning (distance learning), meaning that the learner can complete the course in their own time at their own pace.
This is free to all of our parents and only requires a profile to be set up.
