Live Simply
“What kind of world do we want to leave to those who come after us, to children who are now growing up?”
(Pope Francis)
Inspired by the simple life lead by Jesus together with the teaching of Pope Francis’ letter Laudato Si, the Live Simply Award is an opportunity for our school community to respond to the Church’s call to live simply, sustainably and in solidarity with the world’s poorest.
Through the Live Simply award scheme our students will:
🙏
Learn about the connection between their faith and the environmental and social crises
🌱
Respond with faith inspired actions
🌍
Be empowered as active citizens to bring about positive change

We are making strides to become a single-use plastic free school, by educating and inspiring our pupils to review and reduce the plastic that they bring in to school, along with working with providers to move towards a plastic free canteen and school.

Working with the Eco Council, Catholic Life and Mission Ambassadors, and the School Council pupils will help to plant trees on the new school site. Pupils will take an active role in the planning and delivering of fundraising events for various charities including CAFOD, The Brick and Daffodil Dreams.

The Live Simply Award encourages us as a school to build strong links with our local community, our current links with Norley Hall Care Home, and feeder Parishes will play a vital role. Pope Francis urges Christians to bridge the gap between older and younger generations so that the elderly may pass on the “memory of life, the experience of life, the wisdom of life. In the measure that we can help young people and old people connect, there will be more hope for the future of our society”. Through care home visits, and work with the local parishes and primary schools our pupils will learn to live simply, sustainably and in solidarity with the world’s poorest communities.
