Assessment
At Key Stage 3, pupils are assessed during lessons on their practical abilities and at the end of units via end of topic assessments. These assessments are challenging, but revision and retrieval activities/resources are plentiful, but students must prepare for all assessments. These assessments give students and staff a great understanding of students' abilities.
At Key Stage 4, GCSE Computer Science students have theory assessments periodically in addition to a variety of mock examinations across the two-year course. These assessments are challenging, but revision and retrieval activities/resources are plentiful, but students must prepare for all assessments as they give the teaching staff an exceptionally good indication of where support is required and where knowledge and skills need to be enhanced. All students must strive to achieve their minimum accepted grade or above.
With OCR Cambridge Nationals Creative iMedia there is an element of controlled assessment. This means teaching in class and assignments which are set in class contribute to final grades once they have been moderated by the examination board. There is also an element of examination which is sat at the end of the second year. Due to that nature of the subject, it is vital that students are in school with 100% attendance to be able to achieve their absolute best on this course. All students must strive to achieve their minimum accepted grade or above.
