Rewards & Sanctions
At St John Fisher, we value the importance of rewarding good behaviour, effort, and progress. By recognizing and celebrating positive contributions, we foster a culture of respect and encourage students to strive for excellence. Our approach emphasizes both formal and informal praise, ensuring that all students feel appreciated for their efforts.
However, we are equally committed to addressing poor behaviour. Disruptive actions are not tolerated, and appropriate sanctions are issued when students fail to follow school rules. We encourage students to take responsibility for their actions, understand the consequences, and make amends. Our goal is to maintain a fair and supportive environment where positive behaviour is the standard.
At St John Fisher, we believe in the importance of rewarding good behavior, effort, and achievement, as these are key to motivating students and reinforcing positive values. We are dedicated to recognizing and celebrating the contributions of our students, helping them understand that their hard work and good behavior are valued within our school community. By consistently acknowledging positive actions, we aim to create an environment where students feel supported and are inspired to achieve their best in all areas of school life.
Our reward system relies on both formal and informal praise, which plays a vital role in encouraging outstanding behavior. We make it a priority to recognize individual students and groups for their positive impact, whether it’s through their behavior, contributions to school activities, or service to others. All staff members take an active role in this, ensuring that students are acknowledged at every opportunity for their achievements.

The school operates an ‘achievement points’ system as part of the range of rewards available to students. This involves both teaching and non-teaching staff issuing students with points each week for their effort/performance in the classroom and general conduct around school.
Depending on the total number of achievement points gained each term, students may be awarded various celebratory certificates. Students may also be rewarded with a variety of prize vouchers.
