Our structured approach to pastoral care ensures that every student is supported by a dedicated team:
Form
Tutors
Every student belongs to a form group, led by a dedicated form tutor who plays a central role in their daily school life. The form tutor provides consistent support, monitoring key aspects such as attendance, punctuality, attitude to learning, and overall well-being. Acting as the first point of contact for parents, the form tutor builds a close and trusting relationship with students, often remaining with the same group throughout their time at St John Fisher. This continuity enables tutors to understand each student’s unique needs, aspirations, and challenges, fostering a strong sense of stability and belonging.
HoY & Pastoral Coordinators
The pastoral care of each year group is overseen by a Head of Year (HoY), supported by a Pastoral Coordinator. Together, they lead the team of form tutors, ensuring high standards of welfare and discipline while also focusing on the academic progress of students. Heads of Year and Pastoral Coordinators liaise with external agencies, including educational psychologists, school nurses, and mental health services, to provide targeted support where needed. This integrated approach ensures that students’ emotional, social, and academic needs are met, creating an environment where every child can thrive.

Teachers
In addition to the pastoral team, all subject teachers contribute to the well-being of our students. Teachers are attuned to the individual needs of the students in their classes and are often the first to notice any issues that may arise. They work collaboratively with form tutors and Heads of Year to address concerns, ensuring that pastoral care and academic progress are seamlessly integrated.
