In Year 7 and Year 8, pupils are assessed at the end of each topic. These assessments test pupils understanding of the key aspects of each topic. Each assessment is followed by a feedback lesson, where pupils reflect on their strengths and weaknesses for that topic and complete therapy tasks to improve their understanding.

In Year 9-11 we prepare pupils for the GCSEs by using past exam questions in end of topic assessments, which helps to develop pupils’ examination technique. Every topic has an assessment, with a feedback lesson for pupils to address misconceptions and areas of misunderstanding. Throughout the topic, pupils are given key concept tasks by their class teacher, which are completed open-book. These are marked by the class teacher and thorough feedback and areas for improvement are provided to pupils.
